ATHLETIC DIRECTOR'S NEWS

VB
WEEK 34 & 35

Before you all head out and enjoy your Spring Break, I wanted to send you two weeks of Athletic events. We have a couple of highlights I would like to share with you all. The Boys Volleyball Team beat that Private School Mission Prep last night in 4 games 3-1. Our Student Athletes played very well and showed a tremendous amount of Sportsmanship. I can't always say our parents do the same, but I know our coaches and our players place sportsmanship as a priority and as the Athletic Director, I am very proud of us. Also, we can't forget our awesome band who played wonderful music giving our Boys great energy last night as well, so thank you BAND! Also, last night we held a Track Meet vs. OAHS and Tempelton and as expected we pulled off a sweep at both JV and Varsity levels. Our Girls Varsity 4X1 ran exceptionally well, but the highlight in my opinion was our Unified Student Athletes. For those who don't know, Unified Student Athletes are a group of Students with Special Needs who have enough courage to participate in Athletics. They call it Unified because during the race one of our regular Ed students ran with each of our Unified Athletes in the race. Wow, they inspire me so much. I love these wonderful and beautiful students. Below and attached to this email are the next two weeks of Athletics. This attendance party outside of my office sounds like a good time. Nice job Mr. Diaz and all of those working to put it together.

Week 32

Hello, I hope all of you have a wonderful and safe weekend. Baseball: is doing very well. They currently have an 8-1 record. Next week they start League play. Softball: Off to a slow start, but the highlight this week was on Monday in are very first game played in the new Softball Field the JV team won 11-10. We can always say, Santa Maria won the very first game in the stadium. Boys Volleyball: Boys have started off with a 0-4 record. Their record doesn't tell the story of a team who has played up to their potential and has been competitive. Track and Field: This year the program has made positive strides especially on the girl side with many multiple sport Athletes who have chosen to participate in Track and Field. With the addition of Coach Aaron, the Throwers have also improved. This past Wednesday the Track Team swept both girls and boys at the JV and Varsity levels vs. Mission Prep and Cabrillo. Swim: Perhaps the fastest growing sport on campus. The coaches have done a wonderful job putting together a solid team and the Student Athletes have been putting in a lot of work. Let's see how things progress as the season moves forward. Boys Golf: Coach Cheney does a great job of keeping us all informed. The golf team hosts the league tournament this Monday at the Santa Maria Country Club. One if not the best boys golf team Santa Maria has had in years. Great Job Coach.

Hello, We are now in our last regular season week of Winter Sports. Our boys' basketball game vs. Pioneer Valley this Friday will be the last regular season home game. The highlight of last week was our JV Boys and Girls Varsity CCAA Wrestling Tournament. Santa Maria High School hosted the league finals tournament. Coach Silva put together and ran this smooth event. The other highlight was our boys Soccer team putting together a nice win over Righetti High school with a 2 - 0 victory. This coming week is all about the postseason. This week is an important week for our teams to solidify their chances of making it to the post season. Tonight, our girls' basketball team plays Mission Prep at 6:30. Our boys' basketball team visits Paso Robles at 6:30pm. The boys Soccer team plays Paso Robles tonight here at home at 6pm and finishes their season Thursday again at home vs. Paso Robles a 6pm start.
