LATINOS UNIDOS CONFERENCE

LATINOS UNIDOS

Students and teachers, Patricia Villalobos, Paola Ferreira, Mireya Luna, and Roxana Maldonado, have been collaborating to create the 10th annual Latinos Unidos Conference. The conference will be held on Saturday, March 11th at Righetti High School from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The theme this year is Breaking Barriers, Sí se puede. Students from Righetti, Pioneer Valley, and Santa Maria High School are creating and implementing workshops that will encourage our youth to celebrate their culture, pursue higher education and raise awareness around mental health issues in our community. The title of these workshops include: "There's an 'I' in Identity," "Finding Happiness," "It Didn’t Start with You," "How to Get Hired," "Seeking for Help," "Be the Change," "Healing Circle," "Planting the Seeds to your Future." The keynote speaker will be California State Senator Monique Limón, elected to the Senate in November 2020 and represents the 19th Senate district that includes all of Santa Barbara County and over half of Ventura County. Entertainment will be provided by local mariachi singer, Josue Hernandez. It is a free event, open to all students in the district.
