Subjects Taught
English 3, English I Intensive A

I earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Transfer Studies from Allan Hancock College.
I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from the University of California Santa Barbara.
I earned a Master of Arts Degree in Teaching from Brandman University.

I began my teaching career in 2012, but my actual experience at Santa Maria High School has deeper roots.  After graduating from SMHS in 2005, I set my sights on continuing my education in hopes of pursuing a career in teaching. I spent two years at Allan Hancock College and then transferred to the University of California, Santa Barbara, where I majored in English. After college I began working throughout the county with children who have disabilities while substitute teaching for our district. My teaching experience encompasses applied behavioral analysis and secondary levels. This diverse experience has provided me the opportunity to teach both regular education and special education classes. Presently I am teaching ELD courses as well as English 3. As a teacher I try to maintain a positive attitude, encouraging my students to “advance confidently in the direction of their dreams,” as Thoreau once said. My hobbies include travel, playing the trumpet, and volunteering in the Family Literacy Program and SLO County Reading Association.
