Baseball Caps and Dress Code Enforcement

All SMHS Students: Starting next semester ONLY SMHS approved baseball caps will be allowed on campus.

All other caps will be confiscated and will require parent pick-up. Please put this information on your calendar. This begins on January 13, 2022.


Further, SMHS students must adhere to the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District dress code as described on SMHS Website.

Dress Code

The dress code complies with District and State policies and applies to all school activities. These policies require that student attire be neat, clean, and non-disruptive. Interpretation of this policy rests with the individual classroom instructor, site administrators or any staffmember while students are on campus.

Requirements apply to all students, as provided in the Education Code and/or District Policy. 

They are:
1. No attire including clothing, jewelry, hats or personal items:
• May promote or advertise drugs, alcohol or tobacco use.
• Depict obscenity or lewdness.
• Be inflammatory with regard to race, religion or heritage.
• May promote gang affiliation.
2. Feet must be covered, minimally, providing protection to the bottom of the foot.
3. The upper torso must be covered. Clothes shall be sufficient to conceal undergarments 
at all times. See-through or fishnet fabrics, halter tops, spaghetti straps (must be two inches wide), off-the-shoulder or low-cut tops, bare midriffs and skirts or shorts shorter than mid-thigh are prohibited.

4. Pajamas and slippers are not appropriate school apparel.

Students who are not in compliance with this dress code will:

1. Be referred to an assistant principal.
2. Have their parents contacted by the school.
3. Not be permitted to return to class until the dress code infraction is corrected.
4. Repeated non-compliance may result in on- or off-campus suspension.

Para todos los estudiantes de SMHS: A partir del próximo semestre, SOLAMENTE se permitirán en el campus gorras de béisbol aprobadas por SMHS. Todas las demás gorras serán confiscadas y será necesario que los padres las recojan. Por favor ponga esta información en su calendario. Esto comienza el 13 de enero de 2022.

Además, los estudiantes de SMHS deben cumplir con el código de vestimenta del Distrito de Escuelas Preparatorias de la Unión Conjunta de Santa María como se describe en el sitio web de SMHS.

               Código de vestimenta

El código de vestimenta cumple con las políticas estatales y del distrito y se aplica a todas las actividades escolares. Estas políticas requieren que la vestimenta de los estudiantes sea ordenada, limpia y no disruptiva. La interpretación de esta política recae en el instructor del salón de clases individual, los administradores del sitio o cualquier miembro del personal mientras los estudiantes están en el campus. Los requisitos se aplican a todos los estudiantes, según lo dispuesto en el Código de Educación y / o la Política del Distrito.

Son:
 1. No se permite vestimenta, incluida ropa, joyas, sombreros o artículos personales:
 • Puede promover o publicitar el uso de drogas, alcohol o tabaco.
 • Representan obscenidad o lascivia.
 • Sea incendiario con respecto a la raza, religión o herencia.
 • Puede promover la afiliación a pandillas.
 2. Los pies deben estar cubiertos, mínimamente, proporcionando protección a la planta del pie.
 3. La parte superior del torso debe estar cubierta. La ropa debe ser suficiente para ocultar la ropa interior en todo momento. Se prohíben las  telas transparentes o de rejilla, las blusas sin mangas, los tirantes finos (deben tener dos pulgadas de ancho), las blusas con hombros          descubiertos o escotados, el abdomen descubierto y las faldas o pantalones cortos más cortos que la mitad del muslo.
 4. Los pijamas y pantuflas no son ropa apropiada para la escuela.

Los estudiantes que no cumplan con este código de vestimenta:

 1. Ser referido a un subdirector.
 2. Haga que la escuela se comunique con sus padres.
 3. No se le permitirá regresar a clases hasta que se corrija la infracción del código de vestimenta.
 4. El incumplimiento repetido puede resultar en una suspensión dentro o fuera del campus.
