We are happy to report some good news regarding the graduation ceremonies coming up this week.

End of Year Events:
1.) June 5th – Graduation Commencement Ceremony
We are happy to report some good news regarding the graduation ceremonies coming up this week. Negotiations with our Public Health Department have allowed some of the restrictions to be eased. I’d like to thank our superintendent Garcia and several of our parent groups who actively advocated for a more meaningful ceremony. New guidelines were released earlier this week from SBCEO. Though still restricted to a virtual recorded ceremony followed by a “drive thru” visit to our campus, the new guidelines do allow our seniors to exit the car briefly to cross our stage, receive their diploma, and have their photograph taken before returning to their vehicle. We are excited to make these changes as we want the ceremony to be as meaningful and memorable as possible.

Below is the timeline for the graduation ceremony. We will send out a separate email containing further details before the end of the day Tuesday.
• The virtual commencement will be available through a link on our school website made available starting June 5th, at 11:00am.
• The celebratory diploma pickup will then begin at 1:00pm (also June 5th) at SMHS, on Thornburg St. We will ask that the graduates with last names starting with letters A-L will show up between 1:00pm and 2:00pm, while graduates with last names starting with letters M-Z will arrive at SMHS between 2:00pm and 3:00pm.
• We will have a professional photographer at the stage site to help record the moment. Family and friends should also have a great shot of their graduate receiving their diploma from their car.
• The deadline for seniors to have all fees paid is Wednesday June 3rd in order to receive your diploma on graduation day.

2.) Textbook and tablet collections have been completed for 9th, 10th and 12th grade with only the 11th graders’ left to be collected on Tuesday. If you have a 9th, 10th, or 12th grader who has missed their window to return textbooks, they may come to the 11th grade collection on Tuesday, June 2nd, from 9am-3:30pm in the Thornburg parking lot.
