Several members of the SMHS Alpine Club will be taking their next hike with the proper footwear, thanks to a donation from Kiwanis Club of Santa Maria Valley and generous discounts from Mountain Air of San Luis Obispo.

Santa Maria High School supports BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

More than 300 SMHS students, who are on the A-G track to fulfill their post-secondary educational dreams, were recently recognized by administrators and staff.

Cindy Carbajal and Alexis Bravo-Lagunas from SMHS each earned a $7,914 scholarship to attend the summer program, scholarship sponsored by UCSB's EAOP and UCSB's Office of Summer Sessions.

SMHS new building is coming along as planned. The entire Administration staff will relocate to the new building in August, right on time to start the 23/24 school year. The top two floors will host 50 classrooms, including science and Home Ec. Everyone is very excited and ready for a new journey.

Two Santa Maria FFA students have been elected to serve as a 2024-2025 California FFA State Officer. Senior, Melissa Lua Duarte, California State FFA Treasurer, and graduate Carlos Nunez Jacuinde, California State FFA Reporter, went through a five-day, nine-round interview process before being elected as a State FFA Officer.

The SMHS classrooms of Ms. Julieta Delgadillo's English Literature and Composition, ELD Lab III, and ERWC 11 classes were recently filled with the aroma of freshly baked soda bread and the refreshing taste of shamrock punch as students immersed themselves in the rich tapestry of Irish culture.

Special education students displayed confidence and courage during SMJUHSD’s High School Games at Righetti High School today (May 19). The event featured races, relays, a softball throw, standing long jump and running long jump.

The Santa Maria FFA has three State Champion Judging Teams in Career Development Events (CDE) this school year. The latest additions were the Vegetable Crop Judging Team and the Poultry Judging Team. They were part of numerous honors earned by nearly 50 Santa Maria FFA members who attended the California FFA State Finals at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo on May 5th.

About 500 incoming freshmen got a taste of what student life is all about during SMHS’s Future Saint Night on Wednesday. The 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. event featured information about athletic programs, clubs, and elective course offerings. It was held inside the Wilson Gym and on the practice field.

The Santa Maria High School Alpine Club took their annual trip to Yosemite National Park last weekend.

Santa Maria High School’s Chicano/Latino Studies students will be hosting an Ethnic Studies Film Festival from 3 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. on May 16.

The Santa Maria FFA has three State Champion Judging Teams in Career Development Events (CDE) this school year. The latest additions were the Vegetable Crop Judging Team and the Poultry Judging Team. They were part of numerous honors earned by nearly 50 Santa Maria FFA members who attended the California FFA State Finals at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo on May 5th.

About 500 incoming freshmen got a taste of what student life is all about during SMHS’s Future Saint Night on Wednesday. The 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. event featured information about athletic programs, clubs, and elective course offerings. It was held inside the Wilson Gym and on the practice field.
