The purpose of the Society is to recognize high achievement in Spanish by students of secondary schools and to promote continuity of interest in Hispanic Studies. In order to be a member of this society, students must have maintained a 3.5 GPA in Advanced Spanish Classes, (Spanish III or higher). This is a National Honor Society, which offers a life long membership. Qualified members wear a red and yellow honor cord at graduation; officers receive a stole and a medal. Students also go through an initiation ceremony where they receive a certificate and other graduation regalia.
