The purpose of the Society is to recognize high achievement in Spanish by students of secondary schools and to promote continuity of interest in Hispanic Studies. In order to be a member of this society, students must have maintained a 3.5 GPA in Advanced Spanish Classes, (Spanish III or higher). This is a National Honor Society, which offers a life long membership. Qualified members wear a red and yellow honor cord at graduation; officers receive a sash and a medal. Students also go through an initiation ceremony where they receive a certificate and other graduation regalia.  

Requirements to be a member:  

  • Students need to take 3 years of Spanish and maintain a 3.5 GPA in ONLY Spanish Classes.  (Students can join during their second year of Spanish)
  • Students need to attend 75% of meetings
  • Students need to participate in at least 5 events, fundraisers, activities
  • Students must participate in ALL community service 

*Based on attandance and participation students will be able to receive more and different graduation regalia such as:  medals, pins, shirts, sweatshirts etc.
